Anna Howard Missionary
Society
The Anna Howard Missionary Society was organized on February
2, 1979. The organization started with 18 members and today
has over 60 members.
The first officers were:

The Society’s first
outreach project was to adopt a child from Haiti. Many other
projects were added as the society grew under the leadership
of Shirley Saunders, Advisor and Mozelle Fleming who also
served as president after the late Lee Merrill Hush.
Today the missionaries
are engaged in the following projects:

Partnering with the
Sisters Network -- Sisters Network® Inc. addresses the
breast health needs of African American women, through
its affiliate chapters, and partnerships with existing
service providers.

Visiting and caring
for the sick and shut in, the bereaved and the down
trodden.

Visiting the Nursing
Home

Prison Ministry
-
Visiting Homeless
Shelters
-
Providing programs
for seniors in our church and community; weekly senior
Bible Study; an annual senior dinner; and annual senior
luncheon; trips and other activities including
informational seminars covering such topics as Medicare.

Distribution of
Thanksgiving Baskets
-
Toys for Tots at
Christmas time
-
Supporting our AME
Connectional WMS in National and Global efforts such as
support for hurricane victims from Katrina, support for
Africa (Mama Kits)

Adopting a family
from our community
-
Supporting our Young
Peoples Department ( YPD) training the youth for
missionary service.
