judgment run down as waters and righteousness as a mighty
stream” – Amos 5:24

It can start with the
mindset that we are so blessed we can do no wrong. It leads
to a relaxation of our vigilance and to acceptance of evil
in our individual lives. It was pointed out in class
discussion that we start rationalizing that things we do
against His will are either ignored by Him, or that we get
some sort of self created exemption. Before we know it this
attitude has contaminated our sphere of influence in our
home, our churches and community. We have changed from
persons having a godly positive impact on society to
impotent witnesses who are in fact indistinguishable from
those we call ungodly!!!
This week’s lesson in Amos
Chapter 5 contains a strong indictment against all who have
chosen to live in the status quo of today’s society. God
tells us through His prophet Amos that He will not allow
complacency and evil to remain unchecked, especially when it
is exhibited by those who claim to be His people. His
judgment will run down as waters and His righteousness as a
mighty stream.
This week let’s ask the
Holy Spirit to help us examine our relationship with Him.
